Now consider web-based services that can be used to generate ecards. Most will ask you, but not truly require you, to register. Registration makes the process much easier for successive visits. How does this work? Suppose that you create a birthday card for your spouse. One of the last steps of the process will be a question "Do you want me to remember this date?". If you say "Yes", you will be asked when you would like to be reminded (a day in advance, a week in advance, etc.), and then you will receive a reminder at the specified time via email next year to send another card. The reminder will be customized something like this: "Last year at this time you sent a birthday card to [insert name]. Would you like to send one this year"? With a minimum amount of work, you can develop and online address book set with important dates and reminders for each person on your card list.
Now how would you like to set up a reminder system for your customers that would alert you to important events such as birthdays or anniversaries? With such reminders you can to develop promotions targeted to your customers on their special days.
